The condition of swollen veins in the rectal region is the source of pain present in the area. It is the swollen veins which are termed as hemorrhoids . The basic cause is due to increase in the pressure on the veins of the region.
 
The conditions of pregnancy, constipation and diarrhea are the most prevalent causes of hemorrhoids. As the hemorrhoid advances there can be rupture of the vein causing internal bleeding.
